01.10.09 - two inverted semi-quavers

The dUASsEMIcOLCHEIASiNVERTIDAS (“two inverted semi-quavers”) are a collective of noise therapists based in Lisbon (Portugal). They begun in 2007, when musicians from different projects started playing together in cathartic jam sessions, to get rid of the tensions of daily life.

The sound they make is instrumental and unlikely. It feeds on improvisation and it is built on structures that blend elements from different styles like the freedom of Free Jazz, the attitude of Punk, the power of Noise or the urgency of Rock.

The collective is variable and always open to new participants. Currently the members are: X (keyboards & side effects), Desmarques (guitars & anaesthetizing feedbacks), Trigueiros (drums & arrythmia) and Monstro (four strings & double personality). They have just self-released their second EP, simply titled “II”, which was recorded on an afternoon in the end of last year, in the studio La Pausa de la Mirada in Barcelona (Spain), when they were returning from a short tour in Germany.

Their concerts are like a locomotive running off the trails. It’s live that their noise better reveals its therapeutical properties, in wild and intense performances where unpredictability is the only thing guaranteed. They have shared the stage with bands like Familea Miranda (Chile), Fuzz Orchestra (Italy), Erizo (Spain), Hysteria (Holland) or the pianist Thollem Mcdonas (U.S.A.). They are presently planning their next tour, which will take them across Europe.
